Driving from Holloway: which way?

From the Nag’s Head, continue north on Holloway Road (A1) towards Archway. The shop is on the right, before you reach the gyratory.

Approaching from the south you arrive on the correct side. Overshooting means going round the Archway gyratory to come back.

Set your satnav to N19 5SE, or open the route in Google Maps. One warning before you go: Holloway Road is a red route, so there is nowhere to stop outside.

Can I get here from Holloway without a car?

Holloway is the easiest journey of any area we cover, because the shop is on the same road. From the Nag’s Head junction it is a straight run north up the A1, no turns and no interchange, on the 17, 43 or 263. If you are already at Holloway Road station on the Piccadilly line you are about fifteen minutes’ walk away, and Upper Holloway on the Overground Suffragette line is closer still.

By rail your options are Holloway Road (Piccadilly line), Upper Holloway (London Overground, Suffragette line) and Caledonian Road & Barnsbury (London Overground, Mildmay line). By bus, the 4, 17, 43 and 263 head this way. Check before travelling on TfL.

Where do I leave the car?

Coming north up the A1 you arrive on the correct side of the road, which makes this the easiest approach of the twelve. Turn off into the side streets shortly before the shop rather than after it, because overshooting means going round the Archway gyratory to come back. Those streets are Zone P, controlled Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday morning. If you are coming from the Nag’s Head end, honestly consider the 17, 43 or 263 instead: it is one bus, it stops close by, and it avoids both the bus lanes and the parking charge. Whatever you do, do not stop on the red lines outside the shop.

Full detail on Zone P hours, RingGo, the emissions surcharge and Blue Badge rules is on our find us page, and current prices are on Islington Council’s parking pages.
