Driving from Islington: which way?
From Upper Street and Highbury Corner, join Holloway Road (A1) northbound and stay on it for roughly two and a half miles. The shop is on the right before the Archway gyratory.
This is the longest of the twelve routes and almost all of it is bus lane and traffic signals. The bus is often quicker than driving.
The full address is 647 Holloway Road, London N19 5SE. You can open the route in Google Maps. Read the parking section below before you set off, because the road outside is a red route.
What is the best public transport route from Islington?
Islington sits furthest south of the areas we cover, and Angel is on the Northern line’s Bank branch rather than the Charing Cross branch that runs through Archway, so there is no single-tube route. The 43 up Upper Street and Holloway Road is the practical option. Islington also has two existing pages of ours, for console and water damage work, which go into more depth than a general area page can.
Nearest stations: Angel (Northern line, Bank branch), Highbury & Islington (Victoria line and London Overground) and Essex Road (Great Northern). Buses towards Archway: the 4 and 43. Live times and disruption notices are on the TfL journey planner.
What about parking, coming from Islington?
This is the longest of the twelve drives and almost all of it is bus lane and traffic signals, so the two and a half miles take longer than they look. You arrive on the correct side of the A1. Turn into the Zone P side streets before the gyratory rather than hunting on the main road, which is a red route and offers nothing. Controlled hours are Monday to Friday 8.30am to 6.30pm and Saturday 8.30am to 1.30pm. For Islington in particular we would suggest the 43 from Upper Street: it is frequently quicker than driving, and it removes the parking question entirely.
Full detail on Zone P hours, RingGo, the emissions surcharge and Blue Badge rules is on our find us page, and current prices are on Islington Council’s parking pages.
